Instagram Users’ Five Most Popular Automakers

auto collision repair in west knoxville
As an auto collision repair in West Knoxville facility, we like to keep on top of the latest trends in the automobile world, whether they come from industry experts, or social media sites. For those of us interested in the industry, but as an auto repair in Seymour establishment, we have a vested interest in knowing which cars we’ll be spending a lot of time fixing over the next few years! With that being said, Instagram is a brilliant tool for determining popularity, even for automakers, it seems. So today, we’ll be taking a look at Instagram users’ five most popular automakers.

Nissan
Maybe Nissan are traditionally looked upon as a more family friendly automaker, but truth be told over the last few years they have decisively proved that they’re a lot more than that. Nissan created the GT-R, one of the last decade’s most popular “super cars”, and they’re as popular for their high end vehicles as they are for their family friendly varieties.
According to Instagram numbers, by the time another two #Nissan tags have been made, another car has been sold!

Porsche
A little less surprising, eh? Porsche have over 357,915 #Porsche posts, with every car the automaker sells receiving a tag in 14.2 photos! Porsche are definitely one of those automakers that create what many perceive to be the “dream car” and it’s no surprise that they’re so popular on social media and in real life as a result of this.

Ferrari
Of course, we knew this would make the list – who doesn’t love a Ferrari? Ferrari have hit more than 360,000 tags so far, meaning each car they’ve more than 300 features for every vehicle they’ve sold in the US.
A dream automaker for many, the Ferrari’s overwhelming popularity means the only surprise for us in this list is that there aren’t even more tags for it!

Jeep
Having enjoyed a record sales year in 2015 and been dubbed America’s most popular automaker in nineteen different states, it’s no surprise that Jeep are making the list for Instagram users’ most popular automakers. They have almost half a million tags on Instagram – that’s a lot of Jeep enthusiasts!
Jeep are essentially off-road vehicles, but their popularity on Instagram and off it is a sure indication that they’re well loved by all.

BMW
Are we surprised to see BMW beat out some of the more “exotic” dream automakers? Sure, a little, but it’s not a surprise they’re on the list. The BMW for many is the attainable dream automaker - working hard and knowing that eventually you’ll be able to get it is great motivation! With this in mind, the fact that BMW racked up more than 710,000 tags between 2011 and 2015 should really be a surprise to no one.
Like the Jeep, BMW proved to be a popular automaker in certain states as well. They took the top spots in 21 different states in America, proving how this automaker have earned themselves the top spot.

Preventative Car Maintenance that Will Make Sure Your Car Lasts

auto repair knoxville
As any auto repair in Knoxville establishment worth their salt will tell you, car care is half the battle when it comes to ensuring that your cars last as long as possible. Whether you’re looking for auto repair in Seymouradvice on car maintenance, car care and keeping your vehicle in the best condition, we’re always here to give you the help you need – and that’s what we’re here to do today. Here are some simple preventative car maintenance measures you can take to ensure your car is on the road for years to come.

Keep an eye on those tiresOne of the more simple elements of car maintenance, and yet one that people often overlook is taking care of their tires. Not only will bald, or low tread, tires cause damage to your car and perhaps get you in trouble with the authorities, but you’re also risking your life – especially in bad weather. As an element of your car care, take a quick look over your tires every month or so to see whether they’re in need of a replacement, or some auto repair in Knoxville.

Check your batteryFor something so essential to your vehicle running properly, you’d think more people would check their batteries when carrying out car care. Check the level of your battery, and whether there is any corrosion or loose connections on the terminals fairly often. If need be, take it in for repair and replacement as soon as you notice any problems.

Read your car’s manualWe know how it is; you’ve been driving for years, who needs a manual? Well, in fact, they’re actually hugely beneficial to your knowledge of your car and can give you invaluable knowledge that’ll really benefit you when you’re carrying out preventative car care. For example, your car manual can tell you the right kind of motor oil, fuel and octane level for your car. This varies depending on the type of vehicle you’ve got, and even its age – so giving that manual a read may prevent a hefty bill the next time you head in for auto repair in Knoxville.

Head in to an auto repair in Knoxville establishment for a tune up Sometimes, your vehicle will develop issues regardless of your immaculate car maintenance. On these occasions, take it in for a tune up, a check over and to get any smaller problems fixed before they become bigger problems. You may think this is wasting money, but it’s saving you a larger expenditure in the long run. Better to take care of things early!

Americans are Hanging onto Their Cars Longer Than Ever, and Here’s Why

Back in the day, cars would tick over to a certain number of miles, and that was the end of it. Taking your car into an auto repair shop in Knoxville is more prominent in vehicle owner routines who are keen to keep their cars running, because that’s the case no longer! As an auto repair  shop, we know how important regular maintenance is on vehicles, and the fact that cars are now lasting 11.5 years on average proves this. With many people choosing to buy a second hand car rather than shelling out thousands on a new one, and others simply choosing to repair and maintain their vehicle rather than purchasing a new one, here’s why Americans are choosing to hang on for longer than ever.

Cars in America are now on average 11.5 years old
The reason Americans are keeping hold of the cars for longer now than ever before is simply that they’re better built now than they have been before! With regular trips to our auto repair shop in Knoxville, some strategic maintenance and keeping a close eye on all the systems, cars are lasting longer and remaining safe to drive – to the point that people are simply upgrading their cars because they want to rather than because they’ve completely broken down and cannot be repaired.

What are people doing to make their vehicles last so long?
There are a number of things people are doing to make their vehicles last longer, even before they bring them to our auto repair shop in Knoxville. Some examples of these are:
  • Keeping on top of tire tread, air pressure and replacing the tires when they get worn down.
  • Frequently checking oil levels, brake fluid and being sure to use the right kind of fuel
  • Paying attention to the notifications on the dashboard, and checking engines when they’re needed
  • Cleaning and maintaining battery terminals, and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery
  • Making sure they have at least basic tools kept in the car, as well as a spare tire for emergency changes

Is the extended use car economy set to change?
Although people are taking their car in to our auto repair shop in Knoxville and generally keeping them for a longer period of time at the moment, this economy of keeping vehicles for a long time and extending their use likely isn’t going to last forever. With the technology within vehicles moving more and more towards going digital and more things being upgraded within their vehicles, people are going to want new cars to take advantage of the connectivity and convenience.

Despite this, there are likely to still be people who want to keep their cars and get the most out of them by continuing to maintain the systems, pay a couple of visits to an auto repair shop in Knoxville, the different aspects of their vehicle and generally focus on repairs rather than replacement for at least a few more years. We believe that the fact that vehicles are lasting so long these days is a testament to the benefit of taking your car into an auto repair shop in Knoxville for repairs and prevention of further damage.

Let's Talk About Car Tire Lifespan!

Fixing a car after an accident isn't a lovely experience at all. Walker's Automotive & Collision auto repair shop is here to make it as hassle free as possible.

Car accidents are caused by a many different reasons-- and one that most don't think about is not maintaining your vehicle properly (poor car condition while driving can be an accident cause itself). We are your one-stop auto repair shop in Knoxville, and in Seymour and we are tackling below one of the most common questions that car owners ask.

What about my tires? Can they cause a car accident?

Every part of your car is essential to its overall performance and longevity. Apparently, the only part of your car that touches the ground 100% of the time is your car tires. Caring for your tires is a vital habit to practice as they are constantly subjected to brutal conditions such as rough pavements and driving style. A happy, safe drive definitely calls for good-running tires.

But how long do tires normally last? How often should you change and check your tires?
For a new vehicle, it would typically last 50,000 miles at a minimum. However, it is important to remember that tire life is generally determined by a lot of interconnected factors such as tire quality, treadwear rating, tire type, vehicle type, and driving style of the user.

Performance summer tires are great when used on rough pavements, but unfortunately, they wear out easily. If your driving speed is as fast as Super Sonic, then the more likely you are shortening the lifespan of your tires. Under-inflated tires and long hours of driving are also indicators of tire wear. To reduce the likelihood of wear, do not forget to include it in your maintenance checklist to have your tires rotated, especially the front ones.

If you are holding on to the promise that new tires could last at least 50,000 miles, then you are in for a heartbreak. Although this is the expected lifespan of your tires, there are some instances wherein new replacement tires only lasted for as far as 30,000 miles. Simply put, there is no definite answer to your question," how long do tires last?" There are no accurate promises as circumstances may vary.

But if you want to extend or reach the average lifespan of your vehicle tires, go for the ones that have a high tread wear and traction ratings. Cars with less rolling resistance last faster than those high-speed ones. The perfect formula to keep in mind is ride comfort and low noise levels plus an excellent treadwear rating. If you can check off all these, then you can finally sigh a breath of relief.

WAX IT UP: THE BASICS OF CAR WAXING

Keeping car paint in good condition is one of the intricate measures of a good auto maintenance.  Walker's Collision Repair, your trusted auto repair facility in Knoxville, will round up for you the basic things that you need to know when it comes to proper automotive waxing. The key to making sure that you do not damage your car's paint while waxing is to properly execute while using safe and appropriate products/tools.

auto repair seymour
Using high quality waxes and polishes will not only make your car's paint shine but will also offer your vehicle long-term protection against harmful elements that can damage your car paint over time -- from the scorching heat of the sun to  dirt, rocks, and chemicals.

Before giving your car that wonderful luster, consider these quick tips to make the most  out of your waxing session.

Prep your Car. Wash, clean and dry your car thoroughly before waxing. You don’t want grooves and creases after your paint job, so make sure it’s smooth and free of tiny debris.

Find a Good Location to Wax.  Never wax your car under the scorching sun. Look for a shady place for your waxing session. Prolonged exposure of the wax to the sun’s heat may cause strange chemical reactions that can do more harm than good to your car’s paint. That said,  only open the wax container when you’re ready to apply it.

Apply Wax Appropriately Using the Right Tools.  Smudging wax directly to your car’s paint is definitely a big no-no! Consider using  an applicator pad or buffer when applying a liquid wax to your car. Divide your car’s surface into few segments and apply wax one segment at a time.
Moreover, you can use electric buffers -- but using this type of equipment requires some expertise.

If you’ve never used electric buffers before, it would be much safer to apply wax by hand with a soft, cotton rag or hand applicator. When manually applying wax to your car,  make sure to move your hand applicator or rag across the car’s body  in a circular motion.

Polish It Up! Whether you’re using electric buffers or hand applicators, the time it takes to polish your beloved vehicle will depend on the condition of your car’s paint. For the final polish, grab a clean, new rag, or if you’re using electric buffer, switch to your system's buffing pad. Frequently turn the cloth the opposite side to steer clear of wax buildup. You can even repeat the process as much as you like.

Polish, polish, polish -- continue polishing in a circular motion until you get the desired result. Now your freshly waxed vehicle is all-set for some fun time on the road!
