Fixing
a car after an accident isn't a lovely experience at all. Walker's
Automotive & Collision auto repair
shop is here to make it as hassle free as possible.
Car accidents are caused by a many different reasons-- and one that most
don't think about is not maintaining your vehicle properly (poor car condition
while driving can be an accident cause itself). We are your one-stop auto repair shop
in Knoxville,
and in Seymour and we are tackling below one of the most common questions that
car owners ask.
What about my tires? Can they cause a car accident?
Every part of your car is essential to its overall performance and
longevity. Apparently, the only part of your car that touches the ground 100%
of the time is your car tires. Caring for your tires is a vital habit to
practice as they are constantly subjected to brutal conditions such as rough
pavements and driving style. A happy, safe drive definitely calls for
good-running tires.
But how long do tires normally last? How often should you change and check
your tires?
For a new vehicle, it would typically last 50,000 miles at a minimum.
However, it is important to remember that tire life is generally determined by
a lot of interconnected factors such as tire quality, treadwear rating,
tire type, vehicle type, and driving style of the user.
Performance summer tires are great when used on rough pavements, but
unfortunately, they wear out easily. If your driving speed is as fast as Super
Sonic, then the more likely you are shortening the lifespan of your tires.
Under-inflated tires and long hours of driving are also indicators of tire
wear. To reduce the likelihood of wear, do not forget to include it in your
maintenance checklist to have your tires rotated, especially the front ones.
If you are holding on to the promise that new tires could last at least
50,000 miles, then you are in for a heartbreak. Although this is the expected
lifespan of your tires, there are some instances wherein new replacement tires
only lasted for as far as 30,000 miles. Simply put, there is no definite answer
to your question," how long do tires last?" There are no accurate
promises as circumstances may vary.
But if you want to extend or reach the average lifespan of your vehicle
tires, go for the ones that have a high tread wear and traction ratings. Cars
with less rolling resistance last faster than those high-speed ones. The
perfect formula to keep in mind is ride comfort and low noise levels plus an
excellent treadwear rating. If you can check off all these, then you can
finally sigh a breath of relief.
